I got the results of my blood work back this afternoon. My insulin/glucose levels looked good, but borderline, so it does not appear that I am truly insulin resistant, but my testosterone/androgen levels are too high. I have PCOD (Polycystic Ovary Disease) which is basically a big term and catch all for not ovulating. Dr. Meek put me back on provera for 10 days to cause my body to have my period. At the same time I am starting glucophage/metformin, a diabetes drug. While I am not insulin resistant, it should still help regulate my hormones. Hopefully ovulation will come back by losing more weight and taking this medication. While it is frustrating to deal with this and now have to take meds every day, I am relieved to have some answers and treatment options.
