Joy Depression

This is day 11 of 31 Days of Finding Joy in Depression. Yesterday, I shared about medication and depression. Today, let’s look at natural treatments and remedies for depression.

After about six months on medication for my depression, I tried going off and using natural herbal remedies as a treatment for my depression.  I made an agreement with Josh and my mentor to try it for a few weeks and see how it worked.  During that time, we’d continually discuss the differences in my mood.

I really wanted the natural treatments and remedies to work.  Somewhere around 14-21 days I gave up.  It was just not working for me.  I went back to the medication.  Medication is the best option for my depression and I have come to accept that.

Have you tried natural treatments and remedies for your depression?  Did find any that worked well?

St. John’s Wort and Vitamin D are commonly used. I also read recently that low magnesium can affect depression and PCOD symptoms.
