Journey Through Ephesians Banner

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.  Ephesians 6:5-8

This week, I have just some random thoughts from this passage…  I couldn’t wrap it up nice and neat.  So here it is, just thrown out that for you to digest:

Obey authority as if I were obeying God.

Remember I’m obeying God, not man.

It’s a heart attitude.

Do good in everything.

God will reward me, but it may not be in the way I expect.

Keep my focus on following God and serving Him.

  1. As a nurse, I’ve always felt that I was doing God’s work no matter whom my employer might be.  Some days it’s harder to remember that than others, but I can look back through twenty years of nursing and remember many instances when I’m sure God was using me to help patients and families in crisis.

    • In that profession, you sure do have to focus on God and your patient, not so much your employer. Praying that God continues to use you to bless families in their time of need.

  2. It’s all about the heart isn’t it – Man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart. I’m so glad we’ll be doing the Shepherding a Child’s Heart together! love ya!

  3. I struggle with my heart attitude and treating those in authority with respect. I’m obedient, but not with the proper attitude. I need to remember that God has allowed them to be in authority over me and serve as if I’m serving Him. Thanks for the thought-provoking post!
