Week 4 Reflections:
What’s Your Field?

The Proverbs 31 Woman is quite the business woman:

She considers a field and buys it;
with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.
Proverbs 31:16

Seriously?

When is the last time you ventured out and purchased real estate on your own? Not me! But here’s what I did do: I figured out what I enjoy doing and what God has gifted me to do. Then, I figured out how do it in a way to benefit my family financially.

The result?

That income combined with a tax refund, small amounts I squeezed out of our tight budget, and some extra money Josh was able to bring in enable us to pay off over $6,000 in debt in 3.5 months. Josh’s student loan, gone. You can read the story and read the technical details of how we used You Need a Budget to track our finances. That all came about because I wanted to be a Proverbs 31 woman. I wanted to follow God and be debt-free.

Every day I work as a VA and technical assistant for multiple clients. That’s my field. My profit runs my business and pays off our debt. That’s my fruit.

What’s your field? How are you going to buy it and make a profit? What are you doing to do with your profit? Share in the comments and/or link up a blog post. Make sure you go visit Kelli at Adventurez in ChildRearing too! Grab the button code from this page.

June Goals

Amanda Pelser —  June 1, 2012 — 13 Comments

These goals continue this month:

  1. Pay $500 a month on our HELOC. Made it last month! We came up with $505.06. Yes that $.06 counts!
  2. Put all of the verses in the Bible using the word “perfect” into a chart. This goal is modified from the one I didn’t get through last month.
  3. Design the branding for my virtual and technical assistance services and distribute a button for my clients to display. I was so close to getting this done last month, but I didn’t so it remains a goal.

Goals and accountability are crucial to success. What are your goals this month and who are you allowing to keep you accountable?

The Pelsers

Congrats to Kelli S. Look for an email from me. You have 48 hours to claim your DVD.

Here’s what we’ve been up to this week:

Jonathan is working on Esther from Grapevine Studies. Here he is copying the stick figure drawings from the teacher’s guide on my iPad – and drawing a massive hat on Mordecai. He really gets into the drawings and makes them his own.

We also had a great opportunity to use our Child Training Bible when Jonathan had some issues over the weekend with neighborhood bullies. I’ll tell you more about that when I bring you my full review of the Child Training Bible.

How have you kept your kids in the Word this week? New resource you love? Favorite story you read this week? Fun activity you did that taught Biblical, character, or worldview principles? Share it in the comments and/or link up a blog post.

Week 2 Reflections:
Be Rare. Be Trustworthy

Here are a few thoughts from my reading this week:

  • Be rare. Don’t worry about fitting in.
  • Bring honor to my husband in everything I do.
  • My husband should trust me.
  • Women are too often characterized as gossips and busybodies. I want to be seen as trustworthy and a peacemaker.

My family has two primary goals that we’re focusing on right now.

  1. Family comes first.
  2. Pursue debt freedom.

The readings this week were confirmation to press on. Stay focused on these two things. This will bring the trust of my husband because he knows that I have the best interests of our family at heart even when we have to make tough choices. (Read more about our priorities and our pursuit of debt freedom.)

What your family goals? Do I have their attention? Who do I speak for? What will I do to raise my children in God’s ways? Share in the comments and/or link up a blog post. Make sure you go visit Kelli at Adventurez in ChildRearing too! Grab the button code from this page.
