Kids in the Word: Discipleship

The Pelsers

Jonathan has continued to sleep with his Child Training Bible. He likes to read it before he goes to sleep. He has been making a song out of the list of the books. He also said he has read Haggai, Malachi, Romans, Acts, and who knows what else. Oh, that’s reading in his head, not with his mouth by the way.

Is he really reading? Honestly, I’m not sure. But, here’s the point. He’s learning to respect and treasure the Word of God. He’s learning that time in the Word is important. He’s learning that the words in the Bible are from God and lead him to a deeper relationship with God.

It’s just part of child training. The life-long process of discipleship.

Last week I said I needed a sign. I decided to make it and share with you:

Monthly Calendar

I created this monthly calendar for Jonathan to use for Kindergarten.  I figured that there are others out there looking for a simple printable calendar for lower elementary use, so I thought I’d share.

I used the dotted manuscript font from Fonts 4 Teachers so Jonathan could trace the months and days.  I left the boxes blank so he can write the date in each day.  There’s enough space at the top and in the boxes to draw pictures or add stickers.

I started the file with August, but of course you can print single months, rearrange the sheets to correspond to your school year, etc.  When I made our booklet, I started and ended it with July since Jonathan’s current calendar ends with June and I wanted the next year to end with July.  I used my spiral coil binding machine to put it all together, but you could easily use it as single sheets or three-hole punch for use in a binder.  I made a simple cover sheet where the years can written.  I printed that on cardstock for ours and added a sheet of blank cardstock for a back cover too.

If you like this and use it, please leave a comment.  If you’d like a version with a solid font or other minor tweaks, let me know.  I could make small changes easily and post that for you.  Please don’t share my electronic files; please share a link back to my blog where others can download the files for themselves.  Thanks!
