Day 13

Read: Patience

Pray the scriptures about patience over your sons.

Hmmm…  Is it a coincidence that my sons have to spend the day cooped up on airplanes and in airports today as I pray these scriptures?

Day 12!

Pray: Peace

Pray the scriptures about peace over your sons.

Every day I’m finding that praying for my boys is changing me.  It opens my eyes to who I really want them to be and the struggles that they encounter to be men of God, even at a young age.

Study Questions

Jacob is now 7 months old.  He’s always been a louder baby in comparison to Jonathan.  The boy has a set of lungs!  Even so, he was a pretty easy going baby for the first couple weeks.  Then he gradually started screaming like clockwork around 11 am and 11 pm.  It would take a couple of hours and a seemingly endless cycle of nursing, gas drops, walking, and bouncing.  At his one month well visit, our doctor suggested reflux as the cause and prescribed a medication.  While that took the edge off, it didn’t cut out the crying.  Josh and I found ourselves at our wits end as we’d look at each other and cry when nothing we were doing would soothe poor Jacob. Then I decided to try cutting common allergens out of my diet to see if that would help him.  I first cut out dairy.  Relief within days, but then we noticed a sensitivity to soy as well.  What a difference!  For the short time that we dealt with this, I cried and I pleaded for relief for all of us.  I begged God to show me what, if anything, I could do which led me to using my research skills to determining the cause of Jacob’s discomfort.

I’ve already shared how Jonathan has been struggling with making good choices and dealing with temptation.  That’s what led me to read this book and begin this interactive study.
