A few weeks ago, we felt like God was telling us to take a jump, a huge leap of faith, and make some major changes in our family. We thought that this decision would come much later… maybe in the Fall or sometime after the baby was born. But, Josh and I both clearly felt God saying jump and he'd work it all out.
Beginning today, I am part-time at Southbrook Church and I work from home. I am now a full-time mom and homeschooling Jonathan. I used the term homeschool loosely since he's only 3, but we're seriously considering homeschooling him once the time comes to start kindergarten.
Financially? Well, yeah, that's going to be tough. We won't have as much margin in our budget and we're going to have to be extra careful with every penny that we spend. We've already hit a couple of bumps. As soon as we set the wheels in motion, our van needed a $900 repair. Oh, and of course there are lots of labor and delivery expenses We really want to fence in our backyard so Jonathan can play outside with less supervision, but we don't have the $800-$1000 to do that right now. But we're doing what we can to be frugal – we have a little vegetable garden planted in our backyard. We planted a new shade tree in our front yard that we hope will help with our heating and cooling costs as it gets bigger. Next plan is to put a cheap screen door on the door that leads from the kitchen to the backyard to get a better breeze through the house and avoid using our A/C so much this summer.
I don't know what all this looks like yet, but Josh was thrilled this morning when I was able to pack his lunch. Jonathan and I have already done our “school” work for the day. I dealt with my email inbox first thing this morning and next I'll tackle a couple of work projects.
It is a rainy day here in Charlotte and I'm looking forward to even having some time to read today. Imagine that…
