3in30 Challenge

Checking in for my third week of August!  {See the details of my goals for August.}

  1. Reclaim my mornings: Hello, my name is Amanda and I'm a Hello Mornings failure this week.  I was up too late most nights and tired from being up in the night with Jacob. Praying for a better week next week…
  2. Reclaim my house: I'm on day 19 of 31 Days to Clean… sort of.  I got behind on the reading because of rough week with goal #1, but I managed to catch up yesterday afternoon. I wasn't as far behind as I thought I was at the time. Now, the challenges are a different story. A practically non-existent story.  I'm a C on the DISC profile so I tend to go for unrealistic perfectionism or nothing at all.  Sara's words were timely this week on Day 18 – “You need to have realistic expectations…”
  3. Research and Implement Blogging Best Practices: I accomplished pretty much everything I wanted to on this goal in the first two weeks. I've been doing a little research as I have time and thinking about my next steps.

The problem this week? Well, there were several factors that hindered my progress on my goals

First, this was Josh's on call week at work.  This means that he's responsible for after hours requests.  Most weeks there are not many calls and most of them are quick, but the interruptions and fear of interruptions is tough.  Thankfully it is only one week every six weeks or so.  He's also been spending a lot of time getting ready for a class that he's taking this weekend.  Not having Daddy home or able to pay attention to me and the boys really throws us off.  We need Daddy!

I don't have a car during the week right now.  I have been without a car all summer.  Thankfully that situation is close to a remedy.  I'm a homebody, but being stuck with no way out is difficult.  It has meant that our weekends are cut into because we have to run errands during that time.

Jacob decided to wake at 3am multiple times this week.  I'm not completely sure why.  We're waiting on a tooth, but that doesn't seem to be the issue.  I do think it is time to up his solid food a little.  He's also getting close to standing on his own and walking.  This could be one of those gross-motor skill development periods causing him to wake in the night.

I've had a difficult time getting to sleep at night which is very much unlike me.  I can usually fall asleep anytime, anywhere without a problem.  I'm not getting enough sleep, so then I end up not hearing my alarm or intentionally turning it off.  And then I want to nap in the afternoons.

These things all combined with my dysthymia and crazy post-pregnancy / nursing hormones to equal one rough week.  I keep thinking tomorrow will be better, but I haven't reached that tomorrow yet!  When I sat down down yesterday to pray and analyze the situation, I also found that I hadn't been out alone or had a break from my boys (other than church) since before our trip to California last month.  I love my boys, but every mom needs a break every once in a while.

Any suggestions for getting back on track and getting through the afternoons without a nap?
