5-Days-of-Keeping-Your-Kids-in-the-Word

All this week, I'm sharing different ways that you can keep your kids in the Word. Today, I want to tell you about the What's in the Bible? DVD series from Veggie Tales creator, Phil Vischer.

What is What's in the Bible?

The best way I could think of to share a big picture view of What's in the Bible? is to share this video of Phil himself explaining the vision for the series.

So, What's in the Bible? was created to tell not just stories from the Bible, but to share the story of the Bible. It's designed to give kids an understanding of the Bible as a whole and not just in bits and pieces.

Our Thoughts on What's in the Bible?

My boys have loved these videos. The puppets, the jokes, and the songs draw them in and then they walk away with a better understand of the history of Christianity and the Bible. Jonathan in particular now ties things in different parts of the Bible together or from the world around him back to the Bible because of the overview he now has of the Bible.

From a parent perspective, I love that my kids are engaged and actively learning about Christianity, salvation, and the Bible. As a seminary grad, I'm impressed with the way the Phil is able to make what can be very complex theological concepts very simple for a child to understand.

How to Use What's in the Bible?

What's in the Bible? has been adding free printable coloring pages to go along with each volume. This has been a great way for my boys to have some hands on involvement to go with what they are watching. These printables can be found on their website.

These DVDs are a great supplement to whatever you're reading in another Bible study. Pick the DVD that corresponds to your reading and show it to reinforce what you're studying.

What's in the Bible? DVDs are also great for nap/quiet time and for family movie nights.
