What happens at your house when Mom gets sick? Here, everything seems to grind to a screeching halt. Nothing gets done. The house turns to a disaster zone. Food is more likely to be purchased out than cooked at home. Laundry piles up. Dishes pile up. School work? What's that?
That's been my last few weeks. I've been so terribly nauseous all day long and ridiculously tired with growing this third baby. (I just crossed the 12 week mark, so I'm praying that relief is coming soon.) Then everyone got sick. Jacob had a 102F fever. Josh came home from work early. Everyone was down. It was so bad for me that I was literally in bed for 4 days straight. I didn't open my laptop for almost a week!
So, how do you care for your family, especially the littles when you're pregnant or ill? It's a tough balancing act. Here are 10 things that have been life savers for me in the last few weeks:
- Movies on Netflix
- Fruit Snacks – My boys will do almost anything for a package of fruit snacks.
- Pattern Blocks
- Books
- Wooden Blocks
- Puzzles
- Easy breakfasts
- Easy lunches
- A wonderful husband
- Legos – This is my top pick because it has kept my boys so busy for hours and hours at a time!
How do you handle the bad days of pregnancy and illness? What tools get you through?
