When the Shook's previous book, One Month to Live, came out, our church did a series using their materials. It was an eye opening month so when I had the opportunity to read the Shook's latest book, Love at Last Sight, I jumped on it.
As before, the book is written in a 30 day, devotional style with prompts for further thought, discussion, and journaling. Kerry and Chris write in a unified voice taking the reader on a journey to deepen relationships. The foundational thought is that not everyone who we think is a “friend” really is one and there are several relationships in each of our lives that we must focus on for growth. Love at first sight is a selfish love that runs from trouble, but love at last sight is a selfless love that weathers any storm.
The book is easy to read, engaging, and thought-provoking. I'd recommend it to anyone having issues with a close relationship or just looking to be a better spouse, parent, friend, etc. The practical insights and suggestions will shed light and help you grow any relationship.
