The annual HINTS Book Fair is coming up this weekend. If you homeschool in the Charlotte, NC area, you need to check this out. There are workshops going on throughout the day plus the vendor hall where you can see and touch curriculum from lots of different companies. Veteran homeschoolers are on hand to give advice and any questions too.
I highly recommend going to this book fair; Josh and I went last year and we learned so much. I wish we could go, but we have to miss it this year because we will be in California for Josh's sister's wedding. It's only $5 and your spouse can attend with you at no additional charge. Pre-register online and save yourself from standing in the long registration line.
It doesn't look like they have as many workshops as last year, but the director of the North Carolina Department of Non-Public Education (the agency that we register with for homeschooling in NC) will be leading a workshop. This is a big deal because the NC DNPE is making a lot of changes to the way the we register and annually update information regarding our homeschools. The changes are administrative, but many feel that the changes require more than is required by the NC homeschooling law.
If you homeschool in NC and live anywhere near Charlotte, check it out!
