Finding a good family devotional Bible is tough, especially when you have an large age span in your kids. One Bible is great for your littles. Another is better for your older kids.

I have a solution for you. I was recently sent a copy of  the ESV Family Devotional Bible. This Bible might be just what you've been looking for!

DevoBibleWholeFam

The ESV Family Devotional Bible is a unique Bible designed for families. It contains 130 summary retellings of Bible stories with beautiful full color illustrations. This Bible has the full ESV text and each of these stories is placed near it's full-text counterpart. There is an index of the stories at the back of the Bible. Also at the back of the Bible are beautiful but simple maps.

The version that I received is hardcover with a ribbon marker, but is also available in a TruTone imitation leather binding. The words of Christ are in black and the Bible includes only the most basic textual references – no cross references or study notes.

The devotional stories cover many of the most familiar Bible stories. A list of questions is include for use in family discussion. There's a key verse given that would be good for memorizing with your kids.

Our Thoughts

My husband and I really like the ESV Family Devotional Bible. Our preferred family translation is the ESV so we were immediately excited about this Bible. We like that the devotional retellings are good for our younger boys, but the full text of the ESV is available to look at the details of the stories with our older boys. The questions are nice to have for discussion, especially for families who might not be as familiar with the Bible or initiating discussion with their kids. The illustrations with the stories are beautiful. The maps in the back are simple, not cluttered, but just enough for kids.

We've been looking for a good Bible to keep in our living room for the whole family to use and this one has now found itself a home on the shelf of our living room side table.
