Habakkuk 3 is a song, possibly a lament. The voice has shifted back to Habakkuk, who is now responding to the report of what God will do to Babylon and Israel.
This verse stuck out to me:
In wrath remember mercy.
Habakkuk 3:2
Wrath and mercy. Two seemingly opposite things. Both are found in our God.
God desire true repentance. Look at King David's example:
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from Your presence
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation
And sustain me with a willing spirit.
Psalm 51:10-12
When God's wrath encounters true repentance and a request for forgiveness, mercy is found. Wrath is met with mercy.
