In my life this week…
- I've been working hard on my 3 in 30 goals: See my goals for the month and my progress this week.
In our homeschool this week…
- Lots of math again this week.
- Jonathan finished the Target $1 spot subtraction book.
- Rather than wait any longer, we started in on the Math Mammoth Addition 1 book. On Thursday, I introduced “less than” and “greater than”from that book. I expected to go over it multiple times before he understood, but he took off and did the two pages on his own. He insisted on saving the last part of one of the pages to show Daddy his new knowledge.
My favorite thing this week was…
- Watching Jacob sign “all done”.
- Box of books from Apologia:
What's working/not working for us…
- Ah, Sonlight LA 1. Well, we've mostly given up on it. Most of the readers were wonderful but the LA was just not right for us.
- I'm excited about starting back in on the Pathway readers and workbooks. I may start those “early” to easy us back into a regular school schedule.
Things I'm working on…
- Final prep to start Kindergarten. Looking at August 25 as our start date.
- Monthly meal plans. I put a large calendar from the Target $1 spot up in the kitchen on the wall. On it, I put sticky notes with my dinner plans for the month. The calendar allows me to move meals around and know what is still available for the month. Plus, Jonathan likes to go see what is for dinner each day when he gets up in the mornings.
- Do you have a meal planning board like this? I'd love to see pictures and hear how you use it!
I'm reading…
- I finished reading The Ministry of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson with GoodMorningGirls.org. Excellent book!
- Still reading Educating the Wholehearted Child. I'm excited to hear from Michelle from Apologia. She's leading the discussion here on chapter 2 this Monday!
I'm cooking…
- I made a new healthy bread in 5 minutes a day recipe this week. It was a gluten-free mock-rye bread. It was a hit with the whole fam!
I'm praying for…
- Endurance. Getting up earlier means want a nap in the afternoons and I need to go to bed earlier.

Don't be afraid to let a baby learn to use a paper book:

He did end up ripping a page, but he did so well up until then. It was a great first try.
