This week we started using Seeds Family Worship for our memory verses. I bought Volume 1: Seeds of Courage a few weeks ago and loved it. It does not have a cheesy kids sound to it, in my opinion. These are well written songs that I as an adult don't mind listening to over and over again. I find myself singing the songs in my head throughout the day! I'm thinking that we will continue use these CDs and when we start Apologia's Who is God? this fall, we will break as needed to memorize some of the verses highlighted in that book.
Our verse for this week was Jeremiah 33:3, which is track #1 on Seeds of Courage. Bible Story Printables has free printables for each verse on these CDs so I'm using those as well.
Coloring Sheets ~ Jonathan can be fickle about coloring. Sometimes he's really into it and other times you couldn't bribe him to color. He would only color the magnifying glass this week.
Tracing and Copywork ~ This is always a favorite activity here. We're working on keeping small letters below the dotted line and leaving appropriate spaces between words. Jonathan loves to switch colors; for now, I let him use markers and switch as much as he wants as long as each word is in one color.
These printables and more for this verse are available at BibleStoryPrintables.com.
We're continuing to video our memory verse. Jonathan loves this even more than the tracing and copywork. We did three takes this week. I was happy with the first one, but he wanted to keep saying his verse and watching the recording. By the third try, he was so well spoken. I love recording his verse and seeing the improvement in his poise and “public speaking”. It is really building his confidence.
