October was a crazy month with my 31 Days of Finding Joy in Depression series, but now I'm back with Kids in the Word Wednesdays!
There were some great ideas, activities, and curriculum shared last week on Kids in the Word Wednesday. Be sure to go take a look!
We're moving along in our Bible reading. We're in the middle of the wilderness wanderings just past the 10 Commandments and the building of the Tabernacle. I usually read one story from our Bible each morning. The last few weeks, Jonathan begs for another story. Can't complain about that, can I?
We missed church one Sunday a few weeks ago so we decided to gather at the kitchen table to read a couple stories after breakfast. We grabbed some paper and colored pencils. The boys – including Daddy – drew pictures about the stories as I read. Even Jacob scribbled a bit.
Jonathan is quite anti-craft and anti-coloring for the most part. Blank coloring sheets and half finished crafts are often sent home from Sunday School. Some of the issue is crayons – he doesn't like them for coloring, just drawing. He much prefers to use colored pencils, but even then he won't color much. Anyone have any activity sources for kids who don't like to color or do crafts?
In Who Is God? we are about half way through Lesson 3. I'm still amazed at what Jonathan is picking up and retaining from this book. We're still doing selected parts of the journal (modifying much of it). Due to the aversion to coloring, we haven't done the last few corresponding coloring pages. Anyone have any ideas for activities for a younger child to go with this book? He seems content to just listen, but I'd love to see if I can find something more to go with this.
