Kids in the Word Wednesdays

We've been taking a little break from memory verses and focusing more on  worldview with Apologia's Who is God? book the past few weeks.

The recent lesson has focused on how we can know truth.  We read a story about two boys discussing creation versus the big bang theory.  The point was how silly it is to think that creation came together on it's own.  A great illustration in the story was when the two boys got home and found brownies – could the brownies have made themselves?  Or course not!  Plus there was a note there saying that they were from Mom.  Then Mom came home and confirmed that she had made them.

How can we know truth?  How does God speak to us?

  1. Creation – The things that He made testify to the Creator.
  2. The Bible – God wrote us a note telling us the truth.
  3. Jesus – He sent Jesus to personally confirm the truth in Creation and the Bible.

This made so much sense to Jonathan.  He laughed and laughed at the thought of brownies making and baking themselves.  He regularly {maybe too regularly} helps me make brownies.  There's a recipe in the book for making brownies to use as a hands-on activity to help drive the point home.  If you need a gluten-free / dairy-free brownie recipe, I posted my black bean brownie recipe the other day.

How have you kept your kids in the Word this week?  Leave a comment or link up a blog post.  {See guidelines here.}
