We've moved into reading about the kings of Israel. Jonathan has been fascinated with the kings of Israel since we watched What's in the Bible? volumes 5 and 6.
So far, we've made it through the story of Jonathan and his armor bearer, which happens to be one of my favorite stories. {Jonathan loved hearing his name in the Bible.} I love watching how he gets into the story. He understands that King Saul sinned and made bad choices. “Oh, no! Not again!” he says even though he knew exactly what was going to happen.
I've used these stories as a reminder that there are consequences when we sin. We deserve death for our sin, but God is merciful and Jesus paid that price for us. Even so, there are still short and/or long-term repercussions of the choices that we make.
