If you're coming over from the M.O.B. Society Blog hop… Welcome!
My name is Amanda. I've been married to my high school sweetheart, Josh, for over eight years. We have two boys: Jonathan is four and Jacob is nine months.
I've been blogging here at The Pelsers since 2005. I started blogging as a way to communicate with family across the country. When my boys came along, it became a natural outlet for journaling and scrapbooking their lives. Now that I've transitioned out of the traditional workforce and moved on to being home with my boys and homeschooling them, I share about that part of our lives. I write about life, faith, family, motherhood, homeschooling, technology, books, and more. I love sharing our journey in an effort to encourage other moms and homeschooling families.
I'm a former church communications director. I have a BA in Bible and a MA in Old Testament Studies. Rather than working in the academic or church world, I've embraced this season of nurturing and discipling my boys. {I mean, how many boys can say that they get to be taught and discipled full-time by a seminary trained teacher who also happens to be their mom?}
Brooke suggested that we share a few of our boys favorite books. I could write post after post about books, but I'll keep it brief. Jonathan is now reading on his own and is currently enjoying the Magic Tree House series and The Boxcar Children series. These are great first chapter book and have been great for my early reader. We use Sonlight as our base homeschool curriculum and I'm a book lover, so we're always reading something around here.
Please, take a look around…
I'm currently leading a discussion group on Educating the Wholehearted Child on Mondays. This is a great homeschooling resource. If you've already read the book, jump in each week with your thoughts. Don't feel constrained by my schedule; read at your pace and comment/link up as you're able.
I also host a weekly link up about making the Word come alive to our kids through teaching the Bible, scripture memory, character training, and worldview. I invite you to link up and share your posts each week with Kids in the Word Wednesdays.
Also, I'm extending my giveaway of Brooke (co-creator of the M.O.B. Society) McGlothlin's new e-book Notes to Aspiring Writers so you M.O.B. moms can participate. Go take a look at that review and enter to win!
Join me on this journey!
