Dear Mom,
You are the best. Really. No matter what the world is telling you, no matter how many times you think you have failed, you are the best. Not only are you the best – you are God's best. You are the mama HE has chosen to raise His children.
The children you have – you are the best one to raise them. Whether they be your biological children, adopted children, or step children, you have been given the high calling to parent them. Children are a reward from the Lord and you are the best one to raise these rewards.
God's hand chose you to be the mama to these kids. You are the perfect one for the job. Even when you feel like you are tired, it is then that you need to lean into the perfect rest of God. It is then, in your weakness, that Christ is strong.
You really are the best. Your children would tell you so. No one hugs quite like you, no one kisses boo-boo's like you. Only you can make it better.
You really are the best. No one reads stories like you, listens about the friend who isn't being frinedly, or who takes you out for ice cream when you've had a bad day. Only you do that, Mama. You are the best.
Yes, you might be the mom to a teenager. She might roll her eyes and he might not kiss your cheek. But you are the best. You are the best for those times when they need someone to listen, someone to pray, and someone to be there for them when it feels like the world has walked out. Yes, Mama, you are still the best.
You will continue to be the best through heartbreak, and when they finally fall in love. When college comes, then marriage, and children. Through all of life's changes, you will be the best.
You will be the one they want to call – just to say hello. Just to know someone is going to listen. You will still be the best.
Then, oh then, Mama, they will begin to understand. They too might be moms and dads. They too will be the best to someone. But they won't feel like it.
So, you will tell them. That they are the best. That in their weakness, God will be strong. That their imperfections allow God to get the glory.
And, you will still be the best.
This mother's day, you might be thinking about your mom. About how she was the best – the best chef, the best taxi driver, the best nurse, the best at everything. Maybe you are missing her like crazy because she has gone home to be with the Lord, or maybe you just don't see each other as often as you should. No matter what the relationship is like, take some time and remember why she was the best. We would love to hear why she was the perfect mother for YOU! Then, look for some of the amazing ways you know you were perfectly created for the children God has gifted to YOU.
With Love,
Mandy
