You may have noticed that putting laundry away and getting dressed are on our chore chart. We decided it was time to show Jonathan how to fold and put away his own laundry as well as pick out his own clothes and put them on.
Josh sat down with Jonathan on Saturday and showed him how to fold his clothes. They had a whole basket to practice on and then put the things away in the proper places in the dresser. I made labels for his dresser so he'd know where to put things:
The clip art is from Graphics Factory. I created the labels, printed them on card stock, and laminated them. They are stuck to the dresser using removable glue dots.
On Sunday, I had a few more things for him to put away. I came back to check on his progress and I think he took some socks to Josh for help, otherwise, he folded and put everything away on his own.
Jonathan already knew how to get himself dressed, but he hadn't been picking out his own clothes. Now that things were at his level and labeled, he can do that too! Mornings go so much more smoothly now that expectations are clearly laid out, Jonathan knows what he is responsible for, and he has his chart to remind him if he forgets or get sidetracked.
