I'm still working on gathering books for Jonathan's homeschooling for next year.  I found a few used books very cheap recently through a homeschool classifieds group online, so I have updated the list.  Take a look here on our Amazon wish list for the books we still need.

We have a new bedtime routine…  Each night before bed, Jonathan picks out a book for Daddy to read and for him to read.  I suggested he try Danny and the Dinosaur a few nights ago.

He was hesitant because the book is over 60 pages and looked so intimidating to him.  It took him 3 nights to get through it, 20 pages at a time, but he read all of Danny and the Dinosaur with minimal assistance.  He had a hard time not finishing the book in one sitting – he begged and begged for Daddy to finish it each night, but we held our ground and reminded him that he was reading the book.  We reminded him that he could stop at any time and pick up where he left off the next night.  He was so excited when he finished the book by himself!

Since he's moving along so quickly with his reading, I'm also looking for easy to read Level 1 / 1st Grade level books.  In addition to Danny and the Dinosaur, Jonathan is easily reading books like Green Eggs and Ham, Fox in Socks, The Cat in the Hat, other easy Dr. Seuss books, short level 1 learn to read books, etc.  If you have any suggestions for books that a 3 years old boy would enjoy at this reading level, please leave a comment!
