He hit me.
She took my toy.
It's not my fault. He started it!
I'm sure things like this are never heard at your house… but I'll admit that these statements are said far too often at my house with three wild and crazy boys. And I said them as a kid when fighting with my sister too.
Kim at Not Consumed has heard these types of things. She searched the Bible to find what God wants sibling relationships to look like. Then, she put all of that information into an easy-to-teach study for parents like you and me. It's called My Brother's Keeper.
I used Kim's Because I Said So study with my oldest son. I love how she teaches the heart behind obedience in an easy-to-follow and visually appealing format. When I heard she was writing a study about sibling relationships, I got really excited. She sent me a copy of each version of the study so I could share my thoughts with you. I knew this study would be no less than excellent. And she did not disappoint!
First, My Brother's Keeper is beautiful. I'll admit that the colors and graphics might be a little more appealing to girls than boys, but it's really nice.
The format is great for kids. It's laid out in 20 lessons: 5 days a week for 4 weeks. The youth version has regular writing lines with more in-depth questions. Older kids could do the study independently or semi-independently.
The junior version has larger writing and drawing spaces with more simple questions. Your preschool and early elementary kids listen and follow along as you teach them. Or course, the study is also great as a family devotional with each child using the appropriate version for his or her level of writing and comprehension.
I've printed the youth version for my oldest son and the junior version for my middle son. I'm excited to dig into what God says about sibling relationships with my boys!
My Brother's Keeper is now available in the eStore at Not Consumed. You can get the Youth version or the Junior version or a special reduced-price combination package.
