Give Thanks to the Giver of All Things {Free Bible Memory Booklets in ESV or KJV}

It's hard to deny–we (here in the West) live in a culture of entitlement and excess. Humility, thankfulness, and the recognition that all blessings flow from our God and Father are hard qualities to come by, even for those of us who really love King Jesus. (To be honest, we may not be big on kingship, either!)

I like to practice giving thanks even for the tough times, for I know they will bring Him glory and they will grow my character. After all, James 1:2-4 says:

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

What can we do to help our children learn to be thankful?

1. We can teach them who supplies all things.
2. We can teach them the thank the Giver.
3. We can model thankfulness in all circumstances.
4. We can lead them to Scripture over and over, pointing them to Jesus through His Word.

A Memory Booklet on Giving Thanks

As we head into the month of Thanksgiving (here in America, anyway), I put together a booklet of Scripture passages for families to work on memorizing. Work through these at your own pace, reading one at dinner or breakfast, until the whole family knows it. Then move on to the next. Give thanks to the Giver for all which He has given to you.

Filled with great paintings of families, and a new passage (or two!) of thanksgiving on each page, Let Us Give Thanks is a fun aid for children as they memorize Scripture. The booklet is 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″, so each printing creates two booklets.

So, here's what you'll want to do:

First, request the Let Us Give Thanks booklet file. You'll get a .zip file with 2 PDFs – one for KJV and one for ESV.

Scripture memory booklet

1) Print duplex, on both sides of the page. You'll want the pages to turn on the short end. I highly recommend using a high-quality cardstock such as this one: Neenah Premium Cardstock, 96 Brightness, 65 lb, Letter, Bright White, 250 Sheets per Pack (91904) <— That one is my favorite.

2) Cut the booklet pages along the long dotted line as shown above in picture #2.

3) Now you have two booklets. Keeping the pages in order, fold each booklet along the short dotted line.

4) Staple the spine of each booklet 2 or 3 times very close to the spine.

Boom! You're ready to go.

You can print enough times to give a booklet to each child, and keep one at the table. Did you end up with an extra booklet? Help your child choose a friend to share it with.
