For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3
His commandments are not burdensome? Did you know that?

Kids in the Word Wednesday ~ November 30
This month, I want to go lighter on the academics and focus more on God, Advent, and Christmas. I’ve been looking for the right thing to use as my resource and finally found it over the weekend: Truth in the Tinsel.
Permission to Grieve
It’s the beginning of the holiday season. Christmas is coming near. The new year with its promise of a fresh start is just around the corner. But, some of you may not be celebrating. Some of you are dreading the holidays.A loved one lost.
Painful firsts without someone special.
Divorce.
Death of a child.
Or some other painful experience.
1 John ~ Perfect
Perfect.
We have a bad working definition of perfect. For me perfect means without failure or fault. It means never doing anything wrong. It means a standard that I can never really achieve.
No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. 1 John 4:12
Biblically, perfect means mature, whole, complete, and at peace. The Greek word used in chapter 4 of 1 John for perfect is the same word use to translate the Hebrew word Shalom in many places in the Old Testament. You’ve probably heard that word. It means peace and wholeness.
Whole.
